First announced in July, the Galaxy Tab 4 NOOKweights 0.6 pounds, and features a 1.3-megapixel front camera, 3-megapixel rear camera, Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS support, and comes with 8 GB of storage.
The tablet’s screen has a resolution of 1,280 by 800 pixels, runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and is powered by a 1.2-gigahertz quad-core Snapdragon processor.
Like on the Amazon Kindle Fire, the Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK doesnt include access to Google Play. Instead, users mustbuy items from the Barnes & Noble Nook store.
As an added incentive, the company is offering buyers $200 worth of free content with new purchases. These include bestselling books, magazines, and TV shows. Buyers also receive a $5 starter credit.
According toMichael P. Huseby, chief executive officer of Barnes & Noble, Inc.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK is the most advanced NOOK ever, delivering the great NOOK experience our customers have come to love, with the high-performance tablet features theyve asked for. We invite reading and entertainment fans to visit their local Barnes & Noble store to experience the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK. Once they do, were certain they will make this innovative device part of their daily routine.
One year ago, Barnes & Noble announced they would no longer make their line of NOOK Android-based tablet devices after poor sales. In a statement to investors at the time, the company said it would instead create a partnership model for manufacturing in the competitive color tablet market.
