Late last night the BlackBerry Messenger for iPhone app was mysteriously pulled from the App Store. It didn’t make any sense since the app has been available for download through the App Store for quite some time now, some chalked it up as a glitch and remained hopeful that BBM would soon make its return. Indeed it has, BBM for iPhone is once again live on the App Store and can be downloaded at will.
Many of you might be well aware that it has only been a couple of years since BlackBerry took BBM cross-platform. Previously its instant messaging service used to be limited to its own smartphones.
Now though BBM can be found on iOS, Android and even Windows Phone. BlackBerry has actually restructured it as a separate business which appears to be doing well, despite the fact that it has over 100 million users. Many popular cross-platform IM apps have much more than that.
A new version of BBM for iPhone is now available for download through the App Store. Version 222.214.171.124 of BBM for iPhone happens to be newer than the one in beta right now, while it doesn’t bring much in the name of new features, users should expect to get bug fixes and general improvements.
