The Galaxy S II HD LTE, effectively Bell’s version of AT&T’s Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD, has now started receiving the promised update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (more than a month later than AT&T’s device). This has undoubtedly been anxiously expected by Galaxy S II HD LTE owners.
The update is of the over-the-air variety, so your phone will notify you when it’s reached it (if it hasn’t already). Alternatively, if that still hasn’t happened, you can go to Settings > About phone > Software update and manually check if the new bits are waiting for you.
So that’s the good news. The bad news is that HTC won’t update the Incredible S to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, despite repeatedly promising to do so. This info doesn’t come from HTC itself though, so there’s still a slight chance that it’s not accurate. Bell’s Twitter account is where we found this tidbit.
Hence, it’s unclear if the carrier was referring just to devices it sold, or if it will be the same situation worldwide. We’ll let you know when we find out more.
