Scheduling tweets is one of the most popular ways to make your social media presence shine. While Twitter’s official app still doesn’t offer the option to schedule tweets, there are a few apps on iOS that can make the process simple.
Scheduling tweets can be effective for many reasons. Not everyone is in the same time zone, so scheduling tweets to go out more than once can help get that tweet in front of more people.
If you’re a business or are trying to build your own personal brand, you might want to stockpile a bunch of good content, and then schedule it for the week. You can plan the week’s social media on one day (while responding to @ mentions live), and spend the rest of your time focusing on other tasks.
Consistency is key, and scheduling content throughout the week helps build awareness of you or your business.
Here are 3 apps that are perfect for scheduling tweets:
Buffer lets you round up a wide variety of content, and buffer it for later posting. You can fill up your buffer queue, make a posting schedule, and lots more.
Buffer can schedule for a wide variety of social platforms, and lets you cross post to many networks at the same time. The app also includes a handy share extension, so if you see an article you’d like to buffer for later, it’s as easy as saving it from your browser or other apps.
The great thing about scheduling with Buffer is that you don’t flood your followers’ timeline. You can post your tweets throughout the day, and not annoy anyone with a large amount of tweets in one shot.
Buffer’s main app is free, and has a lot of flexibility. If you’d like to connect more accounts or buffer more posts, you can upgrade to their Awesome Plan.
If you want to get super nerdy with scheduling and automating, Buffer can also connect to tons of services using IFTTT. Check out the recipes here.

Hootsuite has been around since 2008, and early on took on the aesthetic of Tweetdeck on the desktop. It’s iOS app lets you schedule tweets, and can also schedule posts for Facebook Pages, Instagram, YouTube and others.
Hootsuite’s other features include a link shortener, powerful analytics, and an interesting Auto Scheduler. The auto scheduler determines the best time a tweet should go out based on you and your followers’ activity, and then sends your post out at an ideal time.
Hootsuite also has a fantastic companion app, called Suggestions. The app has you give it information about your business, serves up relevant content, and then lets you post it right away or schedule it for later.
