At this point in mobile history, I think it’s safe to say that everybody’s heard about the bird (bird, bird, bird/bird is the word).
Be they Angry or be they Flappy, just about all of us have cartoon birds on the brain. And yet, after one too many vengeful pigs and/or pipes, you may find your goose to be cooked.
Don’t run around like a chicken with its head cut off. Bringing you a list of the best bird games we know of – but you probably don’t – was duck soup for we editors. They’re casual, they’re addictive, they’ll be feathers in your iOS cap.
If you loved them Angry and you loved them Flappy, spread your wings and soar into the avian future with these games, all free for iOS.
It’s a bizarre premise: play the part of a teeny bird flapping as far as he can across the ocean – but set onstage in a theatre. Control the flight of the bird protagonist by tapping judiciously – your energy meter will go down with each flap. Avoid the ships and buoys blocking your way, but skim across the surface of the waves as much as possible for bonus points. Get far enough and your friend the whale will help you burst forward into the next scene. The execution is completely flawless, and the music and graphics are unusual and gorgeous.
One of those eclectic games that’s so hard to label as just one genre. It’s all about crazy birds dressed in fantasy warfare gear (hence the fighter, the tank, the shaman, the mage and the archer) in their nonsense quest to defeat an evil red dragon.Every bird has not only its own attacks, but also its own behavior, so we’ll see how the tank recklessly charges into battle and your healer stays back behind the spear-bird. Dialogues are second to none in silliness, and the cast of enemies is, so to speak, absurd (giant bouncing oysters? really?).
Scoot a birdy boot through worlds stocked to the gills with the ripest of kiwifruit, skipping and leaping joyously in the air to catch the maximum amount possible without slipping off a cliff. This lil’ kiwibird’s somehow eclipsed his brethren and learned to take flight; however, he’s only got the teeniest of stamina bars, so hover swiftly and with care. Avoid the dastardly cats, or dash directly into them for bonus boosts. Evolving challenges and purchasing power-ups keeps gameplay fresh and juicy. A perfectly darling endless runner for fans of either variety of kiwi. Good for all ages, too.
Bird Launcher is a fun physics application where the objective is to reach the nest by overcoming the obstacles and the enemies along the way. The power-ups and fruits will help you in your process and will increase your opportunities to get to the end safe, including rocket power and invincibility. Try to jump and land on the branches until you get to the nest. An extremely addictive arcade-physics game with a fun gameplay and smooth controls. Great graphics, too.
Are these really birds? We’re not sure either, so you better blast ‘em just in case they might fly away. An engaging and totally addictive physics puzzle game where you need to explode little Mokis using bombs and other extra features so as to reach the magic spiral. Incredibly fun, impossible not to get hooked on, and always challenging, even from the beginning. Perfect graphics, some of the best we’ve seen. The HD version is free for a limited time!
TD stands for tower defense, so place your towers along a path to passively prevent the incoming waves of enemies. Ninja: a random cool adjective that perfectly suits everything but ninjas themselves. Birds: colorful birds play the role of “towers.” What else might you wish for? Zombies? Wish granted. The evil foes are zombies.
