iOS 5 Cydia Tweaks are not only hot – they’re ubercool too. Cydia apps have come with loads of goodies letting you customize the look, feel and usability of the jailbroken iDevice as you wish. Some of the best iOS 5 cydia tweaks can even get things done faster on your iPhone. So here’s a round-up of our top cydia tweaks for iOS 5 for this year:
1). InstaURL: I often keep doing something on the phone and suddenly, I need to look up something on Google, Yahoo or Bing. Have you ever been in that position? And oh yeah, it sucks having to go open Safari to do just a small search! If you’ve got a jailbroken iPhone, InstaURL comes as a great boon for you. This uber-quick Google search – and not just that, but you can also paste/type URLs and open the web address almost instantly from anywhere on the iDevice with a simple Activator gesture to trigger the app!
One downside is that it comes for 99cents on Cydia. If you look at it as just 99 cents, InstaURL is a great app to buy!
2). Winterboard: I love customizing the look of the iDevice. The same old stuff is always boring – and having the ability to change the icons, the background and stuff is totally amazing – at least from an iPhone perspective. Winterboard is the perfect tweak – which is why it features on the best iOS 5 cydia repos list. It lets you change the display settings so you can have your own set of icons and theme (downloaded and stored in Winterboard via other repos/websites). Winterboard adds complete a personal look to your personal iDevice.
3). Android Lock: One of my friends showed me the Android Lock system (pattern-based) and I was in awe since then. Well, turns out iPhone also has the same feature – if you get it jailbroken and install Android Lock. The Android Lock app is one of the top cydia tweaks for iOS 5 because it cuts away the monotony of numbered lock screen pass. Instead, spice up your phone with the pattern-based lock system found on Android. It comes for free, but you need to add this repo: http://www.sinfuliphonerepo.com – to the Cydia sources.
4). Status Bar Seconds: Status Bar seconds is one of the coolest things – not just because your iPhone will now show seconds also (in the time on the notification panel), but also to make sure your iPhone is not frozen! Oh yes, that was something really simple but intelligent. Sometimes it takes us several seconds to realize the iPhone is stuck, right? Well, with the Status Bar Seconds app, your status-bar time shows seconds too – and if it freezes, you know iPhone’s stuck too!
5). IntelliScreenX: IntelliScreenX takes the Lock screen notifications to the next level. It shows more information that the traditional look and that obtained by other tweaks. It is very handy and nifty – because you can access a lot of info without having to unlock the screen.
