The Kyocera Hydro Icon has just been launched by Boost Mobile to its lineup of midrange devices. The smartphone costs $149.99 without a contract and will attract a wide range of customers looking for a decent low cost handset. As you might have deciphered from the name, the Hydro Icon features a water and dust resistant IP57 certified body. It also has a Military Standard 810G design making it durable and sturdy.
More towards the specifics, the Kyocera Hydro Icon features a 4.5 inch 960 x 540 resolution display, a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera on the back accompanied by a 2-megapixel front camera, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and a 2,000 mAh battery. The smartphone will also support 4G LTE by leveraging Sprint’s 4G LTE networks, so consider yourself lucky if you come under the coverage area.
The water resistant credentials mean that the device can sustain being drenched in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. Needless to say, you can safely take the device along while swimming on shallow waters, although we suggest otherwise.
