Spanish mobile phone manufacturer BQ has launched a new smartphone called the X5 Plus in Portugal, the first to incorporate the satellite navigation system Galileo. This like an upgraded version of the previously launched BQ Aquaris X5, which was announced last year. The new X5 Plus sports comparatively better specs than the X5 and hence it worth taking a look at this device. Also, it features some new technological advancements and is apparently the first smartphone to have those new features. This phone was previously announced a few months back.
The new BQ Aquaris X5 Plus comes with a 1.8 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor. For GPU it has the Adreno 510 which is clocked at 550 MHz. This device will run, Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box for software. On the camera side, we are looking at a 16-megapixel rear facing camera and an 8-megapixel front facing shooter.
The device is available in two variants, the difference being the storage capacity of 16GB and 32GB. Galileo should offer high accuracy than the existing GPS and GLONASS technology, thanks to the use of 14 satellites in orbit which will be 30 by the year 2020. The BQ Aquaris X5 Plus will be the first to support this new navigation system by working with GSA and Qualcomm Technologies. Pre-sales of the smartphone have started on BQ’s website in the 16 GB and 32 GB versions, priced EUR 289 and EUR 329, respectively.
The previously launched BQ Aquaris X5 sports a 5-inch IPS LCD HD display. It was powered by Qualcomm MSM8916T Snapdragon 412 processor and came with 2GB or 3GB of RAM options with 16GB or 32GB storage capacity respectively. On the camera side, it had a 13-megapixel rear facing camera and a 5-megapixel front facing shooter. So considering this, the new BQ Aquaris X5 Plus is a worthy upgrade with new technology advancements as well. However, we have no information as to when the device will launch internationally in other markets as well. So stay tuned for more information on the availability and pricing in other markets.
