Sales of tablet computers in Brazil are set to top desktop sales as the popular mobile devices are becoming more accessible and desirable to domestic consumers.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian market for personal computers is slowing (as it is globally). The first quarter of 2013 saw the biggest drop in PC shipments since 1994.
About 5.8 million tablets are expected to be sold in Brazil in 2013, according to IDC. By contrast, personal computer sales should reach 5.5 million this year. Sales already dropped 10% in the first quarter of 2013, with 3.4 million units sold over the period.
