Got Angry Birds? Feel the urge to chuck more stuff at brightly coloured animals. Introduce yourself to Bunny Shooter, the most popular free app on the Android Market and a surefire Angry Birds ripoff to boot.
It’s said that talent borrows, genius steals. If this is true then Bunny Shooter contains some unparalleled genius. Some of its levels are so close to Angry Birds they may as well have been a copy and paste job. To recap the general gist of both games the bunnies/pigs have stolen your carrots/eggs and to get them back you need to hit the bunnies/pigs by firing an arrow/bird across the level to destroy them. There are a few subtle differences between the two, while in Bunny Shooter the thieving pests are still protected by wooden cages and can be exploded with bombs, balloons and anvils have also been introduced in a feat of minor originality.
Bunny Shooter offers a huge array of levels to play through depending on your personal integrity. Once you’ve reached Level 4 of the app a window pops up stating, “Rate five stars for free updates.” This message certainly has no immediate impact your gameplay options and it’s highly unlikely it ever will do. Essentially, it’s a tool to boost Bunny Shooter up the Android Market ratings. We’re not impressed by such conniving tactics.
Continue on with Bunny Shooter and you’ll be entertained with a pleasant time-wasting adventure. The 60 free levels are all well constructed and you can grab another 120 if you pay 63p for the full paid app. It’s hard to shake the cynical undertones surrounding this game but if you’re not fussed about marketing ploys and just want your next Angry Birds hit then this will do.
For what Bunny Shooter lacks in originality it makes up for in being available for free download.
