Burpple has given an overhaul to its Android and iOS apps, adding a fresh design and a new set of features to its food-focussed social network.
The company has positioned itself in the centre of the foodie revolution, serving as a place for users to share their food photos but also get restaurant recommendations and rank their favourite dishes.
“It’s just like Instagram for food, and a bit more,” said a post on the Burpple blog. But hang on, we thought Instagram was Instagram for food.
“With every major release – we focus on a theme. And this one is centred on an all-new design that covers the complete meal experience that is visual, positive, and from a real community.”
So, on top of its photo-sharing elements, Burpple is taking on the likes of Evernote Food by serving up recommendations for bars, cafes and restaurants in your local area. There is a Social Menu where dishes pick-up stars when they are recommended by the app’s users, and a Wishlist for saving and remembering your favourite dining spots.
“Over the past year, it has been exciting to see people around the world use Burpple to share over 700,000 food photo recommendations from over 100,000 merchants in 4,000 cities. Today, we are excited to take each of these recommendations, and connect them in a way that is useful to you – before, during, and after your meals.”
The design itself is much cleaner than last time around too, removing some of its former quirkiness in favour of a cleaner, flatter interface. The navigation has also been simplified, with five tabs positioned at the bottom of the screen for simply flicking between feeds.
So, are you looking for an app to cater all of your foodie wants and desires? Burpple is free and available now from Google Play.
