Call of Duty Advanced Warfare’s new downloadable content (DLC) pack, Supremacy, hits June 2 on Microsoft’s Xbox Live network.
The third DLC pack for last year’s Call of Duty game comes with four new multiplayer maps, a new chapter for Exo Zombies, and voice-acting from a crew of Hollywood actors: John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, and Jon Bernthal. The DLC is one of the ways that publisher Activision and developer Sledgehammer Games will keep players interested year-round in Call of Duty, which generates a billion dollars a year for parent company Activision Blizzard.
And, for sure, the Kremlin multiplayer map isn’t going to do much for U.S.-Russia relations. The Kremlin is one of several backdrops for the online battles, which include some of the world’s greatest monuments. The maps will be available first on Xbox Live on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 game consoles.
“Set against iconic landmarks, Supremacy takes players across the world in some of our most exciting maps to date. New and exciting vertical routes give players unique ways to dominate the battle through both the exo movement set and the new Exo Grapple ability. We are also thrilled to reimagine one of the most popular Call of Duty maps ever, Modern Warfare 2’s Highrise, with exo and grapple gameplay for fans to enjoy,” said Michael Condrey, the cofounder and studio head of Sledgehammer Games, in a canned statement.
The DLC marks the return of one of the most popular multiplayer maps in Call of Duty history, “Highrise,” which first debuted in 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It has now transported to the year 2054. The map has been renamed Skyrise, and it takes place in an Atlas skyscraper overlooking the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.
Maps include Parliament, which is onboard a military cargo ship docked on the River Thames in London. It has a view of the city, mixed site-lines, and it has a special scorestreak that unleashes a barrage of missiles. Kremlin takes the battle just outside Russia’s presidential palace in Moscow. It is a medium-sized map with three lanes and elevated positions. You can use your exoskeleton jumping ability to hop over a minefield that activates in mid-match.
In Compound, players invade an Atlas training facility hidden in the Colorado wilderness. It’s a symmetrical map that funnels the combat through tight corners in a big tower.
The Exo Zombies game, which is part of Advanced Warfare, includes the new episode, Carrier. Actor Bruce Campbell (Army of Darkness and Burn Notice) joins the battle-hardened cast of Malkovich (In the Line of Fire, RED, Burn After Reading), Paxton (Aliens, Titanic, Edge of Tomorrow), McGowan (Planet Terror, Scream), and Bernthal (Fury, The Wolf of Wall Street). In Carrier, the four are trapped on an Atlas aircraft carrier. The episode features advanced new weaponry, enemy Atlas Strike teams, Sentinel support squads, and a host of new zombie enemies.
“This is not only the four new multiplayer maps, but the continuation of the popular Exo Zombies saga. We’re huge fans of Bruce Campbell, and to be able to add him to the already great roster of performers in Exo Zombies takes this to a new level,” said Glen Schofield, Co-Founder and Studio head, Sledgehammer Games
The stand-alone map pack costs $15, and it is included in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s DLC Season Pass, featuring all four DLC Packs planned for the year, as part of the discounted bundle offered at a suggested retail price of $50 — a discount of $10 off the individual purchase of all four DLC Map Packs.
