Mailbox for Android and Mac is not the only surprise Dropbox had in store for us today. The company wants to expand the range of offered services beyond cloud storage. With the new Carousel app, Dropbox is hoping to become your very own virtual photo album.
Carousel, available on both iOS and Android, is a simple app designed to make managing pictures from your Dropbox account easier and prettier. With just a few taps, you can organize them by time, date, and event and turn on an option that will automatically send any photo you take with your smartphone or tablet into the cloud. Carousel also allows you to share and exchange pictures with other Dropbox users as well as chat with your friends and family using the built-in messaging feature.
All that comes wrapped in a good-looking, polished interface so if you’re looking for a viable alternative to Apple’s Photo Stream or Photos on Google+, you will not need to make any compromise.
