After the glut of iPhone cases they’e already put out, CaseMate has finally decided to get a little m0re environmentally friendly, at least in some part, with their rPET line of iPhone 4/4S cases. As the name suggests, the cases are made out of recyclable PET plastic (rPET), largely from recycled drink bottles.
On average, the cases are made from about one recycled water bottle each, and are all 100% made from rPET. The minimalist, semi-transparent style looks admittedly very clean and stylish, and should be attractive to many based on appearances alone. Still, promoting sustainable practices is the big news here, though it would be nice to see CaseMate (and the legions of other smartphone cases manufacturers) expand this practice to a greater range of their products.
The CaseMate rPET collection features cases in Lipstick Pink, Tangerine Tango, Lime, Turquoise, Black, and White. Each case costs $30, and are all available now from CaseMate’s website.
