We put a heavy importance on looks. Despite the disregard some people put to appearance, saying it should not be a primary focus, there is not one person who always wants to look the best way possible. And that is as true for our everyday lives as it is for our digital ones (with photos using numerous filters filling social networks).
And there is an app wanting to bring that to live chatting and video calling. ChatGame was founded by five engineers in 2014 and has the aim to provide a more fun and interactive way for families and friends to stay in touch, ending up as a smartphone app available for iOS and Android.
ChatGame recently announced $14 million in funding from angel investors which will support the app’s continuous growth and help them perfect the video chatting experience within its app, addressing some of the concerns users have about their appearance and settings.
While video calling is one of the closest things we have to face-to-face conversations, it’s not as widely used as it should be. One of the reasons behind this may have to do with how people get worried about their looks at the moment, or how bad the light is where they are, their location, and among other things.
With ChatGame, one click is enough to enhance the user’s appearance – changing complexion, reducing glare, fixing oily looking skin, and thinning out one’s face. The app also includes avatar that could transform a user into a monkey or even making someone wander around in space.
With this investment announcement also came two new features. The first allows up to six users to hold a video call at the same time, with the possibility of additional people spectating and messaging that group. Also, ChatGame now has the ability to up to let 500 people join and participate in a group chat.
