September 27 release date, full 3D and PlayStation Move support confirmed for Tetsuya Mizuguchi's latest.
The PlayStation 3 version of Child of Eden needs a slightly longer gestation period, as Ubisoft today announced the psychedelic shooter--previously expected September 20--has been pushed back a week to September 27. It's not all bad news, as the publisher also confirmed Child of Eden will support the PlayStation Move controller and 3D displays.
Developed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi's Q Entertainment and originally released on the Xbox 360 with Kinect support in June, Child of Eden is largely in keeping with the developer's previous work. The game takes its cues in large part from Mizuguchi's acclaimed rhythm shooter Rez, and it features the same style of music-enhanced shooter gameplay with psychedelic visuals.
It also bears a storyline: Gamers will attempt to rescue the embattled Project Lumi, which is an effort to "reproduce a human personality inside Eden, the archive of all human memories." A virus has invaded the program, however, and players must defeat it before all hope is lost.
The game's visual style approximates a virtual reality universe and is heavily reliant on geometric shapes in motion against an ever-shifting background. The shapes join to take on aspects of the virus, evolving from tiny single-block creatures into giant wormlike monstrosities.
