Earlier this month, I told you about the App Store release of Contra: Evolution, the official iOS game based on Konami’s Contra. As it turned out, though, it was a premature release, offering as it did the version built for the Chinese App Store, on which the game was originally launched in January. As a result, it was promptly pulled from the App Store.
But all’s well that ends well, as the game has been fully optimized and translated for Western audiences, and it has been scheduled to be officially relaunched on Thursday, June 27.
Contra: Evolution is the first fully licensed mobile version of Konami’s classic run-and-gun shoot ‘em up game. It’s developed and published by CocoaChina/Chukong in collaboration with Konami.
“We’ve worked with Konami to replicate the original Contra game as closely as possible, and are extremely happy with the result,” said CocoaChina/Chukong CEO Haozhi Chen. “Contra Evolution feels, sounds, and plays just like the original — Contra veterans and new players alike will not be disappointed.”
As mentioned, Contra: Evolution is set to be officially relaunched in the App Store on Thursday, June 27. It will be available in two differently priced editions: Contra: Evolution for iPhone will cost $0.99, while Contra: Evolution HD for iPad will cost $2.99.
