Samsung have made quite a name for themselves when it comes to selling Android tablets, they were the first to do so with any great success and even the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 continues to prove popular in the face of the Nexus 7. It stands to reason then, that they’ll be releasing another line of the devices later this year, just like they did last year. In the run up to Mobile World Congress, we kept on hearing word of a Galaxy Tab 3 and while that didn’t surface, we did get the Galaxy Note 8.0.
Sammobile are reporting that a tipster – that’s right, get your salt-shakers at the ready – has handed them some information about the Galaxy S Tab. If that name sounds a little fishy to you, and it should, then you might not like what Samsung could well be doing with the Galaxy Tab line-up this year. The tipster passed information to Sammobile outlining that Samsung would be further modelling their tablets on the successful Galaxy S line of smartphones. As you’ll see in these pretty suspicious renders, this 10-inch Galaxy Tab certainly looks like a giant Galaxy S IV. As far as specs are concerned:
Samsung Exynos 5410 Octa CPU
4 x (1.6GHz ARM-Cortex A15) 4 x (1.2GHz ARM-Cortex A7)
Imagination Power SGX 544MP3 GPU
2GB of LPDDR3 RAM with 32GB and 64GB Models
MicroSD card storage expansion (up to 64B)
9000 mAh standard li-ion battery
10.055″ 2560×1600 display – 300PPI
8 Megapixel camera with AF
2 megapixel front facing camera with AF
In among those specs is that awesome resolution of 2560 x 1600 that graced the Nexus 10 late last year and of course, an Octa-Core CPU. The Exynos Octa would certainly make this a tablet to think about, with some serious horsepower like that, it’d give the iPad 4 – or is it the “new, new iPad”, I forget – a real run for its money. The naming here seems a little off and while I think that Samsung would try anything at least once, I don’t think that they’d put physical buttons along the bottom of such a large device, it might just be me but, they really don’t look right there, do they?
