Was the real iPhone 5 recently spotted on a train?
Was the real iPhone 5 just spotted on a train being tested by an Apple employee?
A tipster writing in to 9to5Mac thinks so. He claims that he has owned both an iPhone 4 and an an iPhone 3GS in the past, and the device he saw coming home from work was nothing he had ever seen before.
Supposedly the phone had curved edges and a tapered glass back, which is also in line with some previous rumors about the iPhone 5.
However, TechCrunch makes an interesting point. Where is the camera flash? It's hard to see in the photo, but the phone doesn't appear to have one.
I also noticed that the tipster stated that he doubted the legitimacy of the phone until he saw some leaked iPhone 5 cases. He said the device he saw would fit perfeclty, but those cases show a mute button moved to the right side. This phone clearly still has it on the left.
Odds are this is a case of mistaken identity with the 3GS, but Apple undoutedly has iPhone 5's in the hands of testers at this very moment - though these devices are usually disguised in cases. The fact that this one isn't masked is another clue that it's probably not the real deal.
