The Samsung Galaxy S5 is fresh from its announcement last week, but a new rumor claims that its mini variant is already in the making. According to an Indian import listing, a device with the model number SM-G870a has been spotted.
Although the listing doesn’t shed details on the hardware of this smartphone, a Dutch site claims that the price difference between this handset and the Galaxy S5 is the same as what was seen between the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy S4 mini last year. So going by that logic, it is assumed that this is the new ‘mini’ phone from Samsung.
It has long been said that Samsung was looking to launch the Galaxy S5 mini by June this year packing Android 4.4 KitKat and a Super AMOLED display of unknown dimensions. However, the device revealed here might end up to be a completely different smartphone, so we suggest you take this with a grain of salt until we have more evidence.
But given Samsung’s habit to launch a mini smartphone right after the announcement of its flagship device, we’re not surprised with this revelation.
