Joining the likes of Doctor Who, Marty McFly and, erm, Jean-Claude van Damme-it in Time Cop, odd little candy obsessive Om Nom is back, travelling the trousers of time (my own, much dismissed, temporal travel theory) on a mission to feed his forbearers…
Om Nom’s ancestors certainly got around – from ancient Egypt and Greece to the Stone Age, Middle Age, the Renaissance and the high seas – but regardless of where and when they were one family trait remains completely consistent: the consumption of candy. Which is where you come in on this latest addition to the ultra-popular physics puzzler, now there are not one, but two green things to feed, doubling the fun and further complicating the rope-cutting conundrums, so a sharp comprehension of cause and effect is called for more than ever before.
Ropes, chains, saw blades, bubbles, mines and more, whilst it sounds like an odd and extreme S&M party, these are the objects and obstacles you’ll have to overcome to ensure the candy meets the monsters’ mouths, swiping your finger across the screen in perfect time to get wheels in motion and help gravity do its thing.
A proper puzzler of the highest order, the challenges run the gaming gamut from easily obvious to utterly obscure, truly putting the ‘trial’ in trial and error, and the excellent gameplay comes backed up by sharp, detailed and colourful graphics, making for the full physics-based package.
THE BOTTOM LINE
A masterful example of the app-maker’s art, Cut the Rope: Time Travel is a piece of puzzle perfection that means the devs at ZeptoLab have done it again, delivering an app experience that’ll go straight to the top of the charts. A perfect 10.
