For some HTC EVO 4G LTE owners, it’s been quite a while since S-Off was possible. When HTC updated the HBoot to 1.15, the popular LazyPanda S-Off method from UnlimitedIO was no longer compatible. To make matters worse, HTC released another update to 1.19. Previously, we brought you news of a downgrade method that required users to hard brick their phones and use Qualcomm Download Mode to bring them back to life with an older HBoot to then use LazyPanda again. Now, UnlimitedIO has a new S-Off method.
XDA Recognized Developer LadyX, on behalf of the entire team, has released DirtyRacun. Like LazyPanda that came before it, the tool gets you S-Off. The best part is that there is no complicated and potentially dangerous downgrade method.
The process is, as you probably imagined, rather complicated. Users will be required to download the files, relock their bootloaders, flash the latest RUU to get back to stock, and then unlock the bootloader again via HTCDev. The reason is because users need to be on bone stock without root or a custom recovery. It has to be only the bootloader unlock, and that’s it. From there, run DirtyRacun and profit. Before it was feed the pandas, and now it’s give Racuns the rabies shots.
