Christmas 2011 was a record period for Android and iOS with 1.2 billion apps downloaded and one of the key beneficiaries of this app store bonanza was Disney Mobile.
In total, Disney saw a boom of 6 million downloads for its flagship app Where’s My Water, between 25-31 December and, as a result, the company has has made some rather nice noises about Google’s smartphone OS.
“This was the first holiday season for Android as a viable mobile gaming platform, for the first time making up a significant portion of Disney Mobile’s overall downloads,” commented Mickey Mouse creators in a statement.
At present, Disney has five apps available through the Android Market including Pirates Of The Carribean, Puffle Launch and the Life Of Android favourite Where’s My Water. We imagine users of Google’s smartphone OS will see several more arriving over the course of 2012 as well.
