Watch less than a minute of the trailer above, and you’ll see that Square Enix is clearly trying to create yet another Minecraft clone with Dragon Quest Builders. The strange thing, though? Gamers at large seem totally down with the idea.
Throwing the cult-favorite Dragon Quest brand on top of the project certainly helped, and the RPG legacy gave the creators free reign to toss all sorts of role-playing conventions on top of the Minecraft-esque building world. The game is already out in Japan, where it released to solid critical reception.
Curious yet? Cool, I come with good news. Square Enix has launched a free demo of Dragon Quest Builders. It’s up now on the PlayStation Store for both the PS4 and PS Vita. What does the demo entail? Here’s Square Enix in a press release.
In this introductory chapter of the game, fans can explore a large open island, restore a town and battle hordes of monsters all while completing exciting quests.
I’m downloading it as I type.
Dragon Quest Builders is set to launch on October 11, 2016, for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
