No point in waiting, I suppose. Square Enix is obviously very pleased with how Dragon Quest Heroes performed on the Japanese market, and it has announced that Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is currently in development.
The sequel will be available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. No word on the story or characters yet, but I think its safe to assume that the game will be modeled after the Dynasty Warriors’ musou style of action again.
What’s most interesting about this though is that Square Enix is taking a totally different path than that of Dragon Quest Heroes’ sister-series, Hyrule Warriors. Nintendo has let its Musou-style action game slow burn itself to success over the course of the whole year, but Square Enix can’t seem to wait to get a sequel out and on the market. Sales figures of the main package probably had something to do with that.
Sounds exciting even though we are still waiting for the first game to make it to the States. Square Enix says it will be here before the end of 2015, and hopefully it will do well enough to light a fire under its pants for the rest of the games in the franchise.
