When Sony entered the market a couple of years ago with their DPT-S1 Digital Paper, they were the only game in town. Within a few short years there are numerous companies that offer a 13.3 inch e-reader with more features and they are starting to really takeoff in the market. Sony is trying to stay relevant with a series of price drops and the company has just discounted their device to $599.
A month ago Sony reduced their price to $699 from $799 and a few days ago they reduced the price further. The DPT has limited functionality, it is a note taking device and can read and edit PDF files. It also has a number of of features that appeal to the legal field, with paid access to the Worldox.
