eBay has taken its Sell for Me valet service onto mobile with the release of an eBay Valet iPhone app that does your selling for you, as reported by TechCrunch.
With the app, users can get estimates from eBay representatives, print out shipping labels for items, and track auctions once they’re live. When the item sells, you’ll get 70 percent of the money. Unsold items are either returned to you for a charge or recycled.
The app’s implementation actually sounds similar to Sold, a startup that sold itself to Dropbox late last year.
eBay Valet does sound like a great option for those of us with valuable goods that we’re no longer using. You won’t exactly be able to make a living from eBay Valets with them taking a 30 percent cut, but it’s handy for people who don’t have the time or expertise to list their own stuff.
If you’re going to give the new app a try, keep in mind that valets won’t sell anything in poor condition, worth less than $40, heavier than 25 pounds, breakable, media, license or codes, clothing or high-value items that require authentication.
