Frontier Developments announced in a forum post that it will debut the space exploration and combat game Elite: Dangerous on the Xbox One later this year. The developer knows the Xbox One hardware well, thanks to other games like Screamride and Zoo Tycoon.
Frontier is also quick to add that the Xbox One release won't be a "dumbed down" version of the game. Console players will have all the same features PC gamers enjoy. The announcement also goes on to reassure fans that the console release will not diminish the developer's dedication to supporting the PC release with fresh content and updates.
The most exciting, and surprising, part of the announcement is that Elite: Dangerous will support cross platform play between the Xbox One and the PC/Mac. "That means even more players contributing to the wars, power struggles and Community Goals across the galaxy." So, prepare for a lot of new pilots to enter the galaxy.
