For those of you not into celebrity tittle-tattle the news may have passed you by, but last weekend social network supremo and book of Face big cheese, Mark Zuckerberg took a bride, making the newly re-named Priscilla Zuckerberg (nee Chin) one of the happiest/richest women alive.
So to celebrate Mark and Priscilla’s nuptials and the FB share sale we thought we’d have a look at fresh challenger to the crown and new Android app arrival, Everyme. Well, everyone else is talking about Facebook, aren’t they?
Billing itself as a private social network, Everyme is Facebook without all the hassle of unwanted friend request from friends of friends, friends of friends’ friends, and friends of friends’ complete and utter strangers, with this ‘private’ social network you only share info with those you choose.
Founded last year after evolving from a simple address book, Everyme allows you to create groups from the data in your own address book, combine it with info from your social networks into ‘magic circles’, and then share photos and updates safe in the knowledge that only those you want to see it will be able to.
“We want people to feel comfortable sharing anything with anyone,” said Oliver Cameron, CEO of Everyme. “We don’t have any privacy settings. It’s very clear and concise exactly who you’re sharing with.”
A simpler, safer, more sensible approach to social networking, Everyme is free to download from Google Play now. We’ll certainly be giving it a good look over, so you can expect a full review soon. In the meantime, if you’re sick of Cityville invites, worry who’s out there poring over your pictures and stalking your status, or just weary of random updates from people you don’t know, why not give Everyme a go now and let us know what you think? Mark won’t mind, he’s discovered girls now…
