2K Games' upcoming monster-hunting game Evolve is poised to be the "defining" Xbox One and PlayStation 4 game of 2014, according to Christoph Hartmann, president of the publishing label. In a statement today heralding Evolve's recent domination of the E3 2014 Game Critics Awards, Hartmann said the game's recent high praise means there is a thirst for new IP.
"Evolve continues to solidify its position as one of the most anticipated games of the year," Hartmann said in a statement. "The accolades for Evolve highlight the excitement and desire for new IP on next-gen systems, and we are poised to deliver what we believe will be the defining next-gen experience of 2014."
Developed by Left 4 Dead creator Turtle Rock Studios, Evolve is a 4v1 cooperative and competitive multiplayer shooter in development only for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. In the game--which launches October 21--four players do battle against a fifth player who controls a massive monster.
"We are encouraged and humbled to see that critics are realizing what we've known for a long time: that Evolve is a special experience unlike anything that we’ve ever played before," Turtle Rock Studios co-founder and designer director Chris Ashton said.
