Despite the show having ended its run in 2013, Futurama and its cast of unique, eclectic and colorful characters are back in a new mobile video game, Futurama: Game of Drones. Series creator Matt Groening collaborated with the developers at Wooga to help create the new game, which features a brand-new Futurama story. Futurama fans can dive right into the new game set in the world of tomorrow!
Futurama is one part motion-comic, one part a match-four puzzle game and another part is a 3D exploration game. Gamers get to control Old Bessie, the ship of the Planet Express, and explore new worlds in 3D environments. All the classic Futurama characters are back for the game, including Fry, Bender and Leela. The puzzle game has gamers arranging the Planet Express’ drones in groups of four or more. Futurama is a classic animated series that seamlessly combined satire, parody, science fiction and hysterical comedy. Its world and characters were so unique, and it’s fantastic to get the chance to explore this world once again. If the game does well, hopefully it can be a pre-cursor to some more Futurama material in the foreseeable future. Even if it’s more mobile games, with the authenticity of Groening’s involvement, would still be a definitely plus over no Futurama at all. Eihter way, it’s great to have more Futurama back for hardcore fans to the show to enjoy.
Futurama: Game of Drones is available now for the Android for free, and is just a click away at the Google Play Store.
