Facebook is out with a new update for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. Version 6.2 includes the ability to add icons to status updates, plus other new features.
The “What Are You Doing” feature is located from the status page under a smiley icon. From here, you can select from seven main “doing now” options. These include feeling, watching, reading, listening to, drinking, eating, and playing.
For example, right now you may be listening to the band Fun, or reading the book “Catcher in The Rye.” Maybe you’re feeling tired, or meh. Once you make a selection, it will show up both as an icon and text on your status update. For the time being, the ability to add icons to status updates is limited to English only.
Other new features include:
Easily change who can see something you’ve shared
Start a new conversation with photos you receive in messages
This won’t be the only time that we hear from Facebook this week. On Thursday, June 20, the social network is expected to announce plans to add video-sharing capabilities to Instagram.
The Facebook update is available now in the App Store.
