Facebook contacts not syncing with the Note 5
Problem: I cant sync Facebook to my contacts (for the pic). I cleared the data and the cache like your article said to do. It then said to delete Facebook and reinstall. I cannot delete fb, I can only delete updates from the play store. I had the pics on my Note 3. Why do companies have to keep messing things up? Please help. Thanks. — Mike
Answer: Facebook no longer support this feature and unless the company reinstates it, then that’s the only time we can have a resolution to this problem. Actually it started in the last quarter of 2015 through an update so you sideload Facebook’s APK released around 3rd quarter, maybe you can still enjoy the feature. The downside is you couldn’t update the app to the most recent version as the service would be gone.
And by the way, while Facebook is a very popular app, it’s still a third-party app and you can always uninstall if. Here are the steps…
From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
Find and tap Settings.
Under the ‘APPLICATIONS’ section, find and touch Application manager.
Swipe to the left or to the right to display the appropriate screen but to display all apps, choose the ‘ALL’ screen.
Find and tap Facebook.

Ads popping up constantly while being redirected to Play Store
Problem: Constantly getting pop-ups and redirected to play store. The phone is much slower & freezes. When you swipe to unlock with a code it takes a really long time to unlock.
Solution: Those are ads and more often than not, they show via a webpage and when the user clicks on them, it will redirect you to a certain Play Store page to download an app, which may contain even more ads. Always remember that apps that came from reputable developers and companies don’t harbor malware, spyware and unwanted ads. So, if you recently downloaded an app and then this issue started, find the app and uninstall it immediately.
As a result of this, the performance of your phone will deteriorate over time. In this case, it’s difficult to trace where those ads come from. Therefore, the best thing to do is perform the master reset, although you need to backup all your data first.
Can’t move emails to specific folders using stock Email app
Problem: I use the default email app on my Note5. It does not give me the option to let me move email between folders. It does not give me the option to mark as spam or junk email. When I go into the help in the email app, it tells me it should give me the options for these things.
Solution: I’m not really sure what email type you setup in your phone but if you were using POP3, try switching to IMAP to see if you can organize your messages to folders. It’s better if you setup the account again. I never actually encountered an issue like this because after years of using Android smartphones, the “Move” option has always been visible whenever I check the boxes next to emails I want to move.
Can’t sideload APKs on Note 5, Install button doesn’t work
Problem: When trying to install apps from other than play store. They are apk files. , install via browser or es file I get to the install screen and I cannot push the install button. Install screen opens telling me permissions for app. Button for install and cancel appear. Install not work.. Cancel works.
Solution: You must be using some screen filtering apps like Lux Lite and the like. Disable the app or force close it and you will be able to sideload or install the APK on your phone.
How to reset app preference on a Note 5
Problem: I received a Polaroid selfie stick for Christmas, so excited when I went to use it, a message came up that said something like “how to view picture “Google Play” or (I I can’t recall other choice) I quickly tapped Google Play. Now it won’t take any selfies it just goes right to the google screen with the circle of dots and says “listening for music” and then just sits there…. how do I change the selection so that the google play doesn’t do this? Thank you.
Solution: If you’re sure that it was Google Play you chose when you were prompted to choose the app to use as default in viewing pictures, then all you got to do is clear the default. Just go to Apps > Settings > Default Applications > tap the Clear button next to Google Play Store. If that won’t work, then you should have chosen a different app. Hit the clear buttons for each app on that page until you fix the problem.
