Instagram (Android, iOS) already did it a few days ago. Why shouldn't Facebook Messenger do the same? Surely, those who post photos in multiple accounts also need to message different people from their professional or personal messenger accounts.
And yes, finally! From now on, families using the same device (we imagine this is a tablet), will be able to answer their own messages without logging out from the account each time. And, most importantly, those managing personal and work accounts will be able to switch between accounts fairly seamlessly, something which was pretty annoying before if you had to answer your messages and then proceed to check your Facebook page and switch back again.
This was announced a while ago and while the service was activated for some beta testers, it is now ready to officially launch for everyone with an Android device. Facebook now offers something that other popular messengers don't include, which could easily become a competitive advantage.
Future plans? Reading your SMS along with the Facebook messages, all in the same app. Pretty interesting, right?
The most important concern of this new feature is, of course, privacy. The truth is, Facebook Messenger doesn't let you see the unread messages on the other accounts, just the number. And, of course, in order to switch from account to another, you will be asked to input the password and the app will ask you if you want to be asked every time. That only depends on you.
If you're excited about this new feature, don't worry, it's already here for most of us. Just open the Messenger app, tap the gear icon located on the top right of the screen and scroll down until you see Accounts and tap the plus sign to add new ones. It couldn't be simpler.
