Fast Food Calories is a really handy tool that is available on the Kindle. It definitely forces people to take an honest look at the nutrition information for popular restaurants such as Applebee’s, Bob Evans, fast food chains, and more.
There is a collection of over 100 popular restaurants, and it includes full menus with nutrition information. Fast Food Calories also includes a food log. In order to log your meal, all you have to do is click “eat” and fill in the information and date. So much simpler than having to type all of the information out.
I browsed through the menus and nutrition facts for some of my favorite restaurants like P.F. Changs and Applebee’s. Some of the calories for Applebee’s dishes were outrageous. 1400+ calories for one meal! That is about a whole day’s worth of food.
The title of this app is a bit of a misnomer because it includes a wide variety of restaurants. It doesn’t just have fast food places. So, don’t let the title fool you.
The navigation throughout Fast Food Calories is pretty intuitive. You just use the Kindle’s 5-way toggle button to get to the different buttons. The graphics are easy to see. They do well for the purposes of Fast Food Calories.
With obesity and weight loss being such a prominent thing in society today, Fast Food Calories is a good way to stay accountable for what we eat. It can be a reality check, but it can also help push people to make healthier choices.
The newer Kindle models are so compact and portable, that they’re perfect for toting a food journal or nutrition reference guide around.
Another useful nutrition Kindle app that is worth checking out is MyFood. It includes food from the USDA National Nutrient Database. So, this one is geared towards ingredients rather than restaurant menus.
“Who needs an iPhone or iPad when you can download reasonable apps for your Kindle? I was so happy with this product! I can find foods with different combonations, fix a plate, get nutritional values and stay on calorie track. LOVE IT!”
