I have some good news for Sprint customers looking to pick up the HTC EVO 4G LTE: looks like you’ll be able to easily unlock the bootloader with the Android SDK and instructions from HTCdev.com — unlike AT&T’s HTC One X. Why would anyone care about being able to unlock the bootloader? Well, it’s essentially the keys to the kingdom, allowing for full backups, modding, custom ROMs and just about any other hacking you can think of.
It’s not for everyone but it’s always nice to know you can completely “open” your device should you want to. Just another reason to love Android and the OEMs and carriers that support its “open” nature and dev community.
