If you’ve used a wrap before from SlickWraps, then you pretty much know what to expect here. SlickWraps recently launched their line of wraps for the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3, a device that has seen loads of praise from many reviewers and tech sites, including ourselves, as one of the best smartphones under $300. We reviewed the Idol 3 not too long ago, and we were quite surprised at just how good the device truly was. It sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB of RAM, dual front-facing JBL Speakers and is completely reversible. What we mean by that is you can hold it upside down, and you wouldn’t even know it was upside down. In fact that happens to me quite often.
So how does the SlickWraps look on the Idol 3? They look amazing! They are also easily to install on the Idol 3 because it doesn’t have a curved back. I had a tough time getting it on the LG G4 because of the curved back. So that was a relief for me. I have both the Carbon Fiber in black as well as Ebony wood wrap here, both look great, but I think my pick would be the black Carbon Fiber. Then again, all the skins I have from SlickWraps are carbon fiber, including my Xperia Z3, Macbook Pro and keyboard. Next up, I need one for my PlayStation 4.
Installation is pretty simple, just start with the back and line up the camera with the cut outs on the skin, and the “Idol” logo should line up perfectly. You should use a hair dryer to seal the edges, although you need to be careful not to use it to close to the device, as you can blow out the speakers. This has happened to a few people on other devices. So just a fair warning. Next up is the front, which is pretty simple as well. Just line up the cut outs with the sensors on the top of the front. There are four pieces for the sides. I don’t usually put the side pieces on, as I don’t like how it feels in the hand. But they are pretty simple to put on, and line up perfectly with the power button, volume rocker and SIM card slot.
You can pick up these skins from SlickWraps here, as well as skins for the many, many other products they support.
