Joey Weiser, the author of the Spongebob Squarepants comics and the graphic novel, "Mermin" about the Merman from Mer gives a blow by blow account about the showdown for supremacy of the sea.
Our four combatants gather to finally answer the question,
“Who would win in a fight: Mermin, Aquaman, Namor The Submariner, or The Little
Mermaid?” Much has been said about their
strength, ferocity, and command over the sea, but now it’s time to put it to
With a knowing glance, Aquaman and Namor team-up against
Ariel, who they assume is the weakest link.
She proves to put up more of a fight than they expected, however, and
gives Aquaman a few good punches to the stomach, and Namor a quick tail-slap to
the face. Seeing this foul play upsets
Mermin, and he jumps in to Ariel’s aid, grabbing Aquaman, and pulling him to
the side. Aquaman tries to control
Mermin using his telepathic link to sea creatures, but Mermin shakes it
off. “I’m no common fish!” Mermin
exclaims as he gives Aquaman the final, decisive blow to the jaw. Meanwhile, Ariel’s got Namor in a powerful
headlock, and her pals Sebastian and Flounder are cheering her on. She spins Namor around, creating a dizzying
whirlpool, and throws him to Mermin who delivers a good sock, knocking out The
Submariner. Mermin attempts to quip,
“More like ‘The Sub-PAR…iner…”
Looking triumphantly at each other, Mermin and Ariel don’t
feel particularly compelled to fight, so they leave it at that. Ariel invites Mermin to visit her kingdom
sometime, and Mermin returns the gesture, offering to show her around on dry
land, where he’s made some new friends.
He’s heard that she’s taken some interest in the world above the sea.
