What would you do if your #Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (#GalaxyNote5) just stopped charging without apparent reason?
We already addressed this issue too many times before but we’re still receiving messages from our readers complaining about it. It is evident that it may occur even without apparent cause and that’s what makes it more complicated–you don’t know what caused it.
Troubleshooting is actually finding the root cause and developing a technical strategy to fix the problem without compromising the device and the data inside it. So, if you’re going to troubleshoot a problem like this, always begin by physically checking the power adapter, the cable, the utility port on your phone and the power source.

Galaxy Note 5 stopped charging, connects with PC but not charging
Problem: Hello, my issue with Note 5 happened 2 weeks ago when it stopped charging, at all. Phone was fine, nothing happened, no drops or anything, just doesn’t charge, cable or wireless. When plugged via USB the PC does make the connect sound, yet not charging.
I sent it to service but they rejected warranty as it had a small drop sign on the side frame (happened 4 months ago). They gave me a repair bill if 105% the value of the phone (wow). I evidently denied it (samsung authorised service partner, not samsung itself).
I still have about 10% battery since I stopped using it. I even opened it to see if any missing connectors or anything, but everything was fine inside it… connected everything back, same issue. Any advices?
Troubleshooting: Don’t be surprised. Authorized service centers or partner shops would do everything so the customer couldn’t claim free service through warranty for some obvious reason. It’s very frustrating and disappointing knowing we couldn’t do something about it.

Note 5 charges but stops immediately, other times it just wouldn’t charge
Problem: I have a serious problem. Please reply fast . Recently my phone isn’t charging. I put it on the charge cable and it gives you the charging note but it doesn’t charge. Or sometimes it starts charging then it stops. So I have to remove it then to put it on to try to make it work . I don’t know what’s wrong or what to do. I just bought this recently for a lot of money . Please, please help me.
Troubleshooting: First, try to see if the not charging issue is tied with apps running in the background by booting the phone in safe mode:
Turn off your Galaxy S6.
Press and hold the Power key.
When ‘Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge’ appears, immediately release the Power key and then press and hold the Volume Down button.
Continue holding the Volume Down button until the phone finishes the restart.
When you see Safe Mode on the lower left corner of the screen, release the button.
If it still won’t charge or if the process gets cut off even in safe mode, then the problem might be in the USB or utility port–it might be loose. At this point though, there’s not much you can do about it so seek assistance from a technician.
Note 5 not charging, just stays on 0%
Problem: Whenever I try to charge my phone, it stays on 0 percent. The screen alternates to the symbol of a battery with a lightening bolt running through it to the regular 0%. When I try to turn it on, it’ll only go as far as to show the Galaxy Note 5- powered by Andriod bit.
I’m freaking out man, I love this phone and I’ve only had it for a bit. Any ideas?
Troubleshooting: If this is the first time the problem occurred and if the device didn’t suffer from liquid damage, then turn it off and leave it plugged in for 10 minutes and turn it on again. That should fix it.
To further troubleshoot the issue, try to use a different charger or wireless pad. It might be a power adapter issue. If it persists after using a different power adapter, then there must be something wrong with the device. It’s time you sent it in for repair or further checkup.
Note 5 won’t boot up after user restarts it
Problem: Hi! My Note 5 doesn’t turn on right after I restart it. When I restart my phone, it needs to be forced restart. I want to repair it to have my “normal” restart set up again. Thanks!
Troubleshooting: If this is the only problem you have with your phone, you should try wiping the cache partition first. Just follow these steps to see if the procedure can make a difference:
Turn off your Galaxy Note 5.
Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
Press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.
If it didn’t make a difference, then backup all your data and perform a master reset. That should fix the problem for you.
How to do master reset on Note 5
Turn off your Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
Note 5 showing “Custom binary blocked by FRP lock”
Problem: Phone will not turn on or charge. Red flashing text at top left that says Kernel is not SEAndriod enforcing. Custom binary blocked by FRP lock. Not sure how to fixed this and the Sprint store and Samsung will not help. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
