Email and network problems/errors are among the most common concerns we’ve got from our mailbag, including those from the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (#GalaxyS6EdgePlus) owners. Email problems can happen due to a number of factors, which means that solutions would as well vary between cases.
In this post, I have addressed five network-related issues with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus including problems with email syncing, Bluetooth, Internet connection, and mobile data. So if you come to this page in search for potential solutions to any of these problems, then I encourage you to read on for you may find the fix you’ve been looking for in this content.
Problem: Email account won’t sync
“I’ve just switched from an HTC m8 to Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus and I am having issues with my account syncing. Could you help? I’m logged into my Gmail but it’s still not showing any of my contacts or photos. They are on my Gmail account when I log on from my laptop.”
Answer: Internet connection is an important factor to consider when using emails. Considering you have no problems connecting to the Internet, there’s a higher chance that the problem you have is due to some settings configuration. Kindly verify if master sync is enabled on your phone. Also verify your email server settings are properly configured. Once you’ve checked all that, follow these workarounds:
Open Contacts app on your phone.
Press the Menu/Settings
Select the option to MergewithGoogle, and then confirm action.
Note: If you have multiple Gmail accounts, select the one you want to use as default to host your contacts.
You will then see a pop-up message telling you that everything has been successfully merged.
I’ve also indicated the steps on how to sync your phone contacts with your Gmail account at the bottom section of this page. Feel free to refer to it, if needed.
Problem: Bluetooth seems to be not working properly on my Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. I’ve been trying to pair my phone with my Gear S but end up with Bluetooth connecting and losing connection with Samsung Gear S.
Answer: Be sure to turn off Wi-Fi first. Next, try to un-pair the devices, restart your phone, and then pair them up again. Also check your Gear S settings and make sure Bluetooth is turned on. If that won’t work, then try to reset your Samsung Gear S and then pair them again afterwards. You may refer to the steps on how to reset the Samsung Gear S right below this post.
Problem: “I cannot setup my email account on my S6 Plus. It’s a POP 3 type account and it states that “authentication has failed.” Is this a network-related problem or what? Please help.”
Answer: Incorrect username/password, inconsistent network connection, poor signal strength, and network outages can often cause problems in setting up emails on mobile devices. The error you’ve got saying, “Authentication has failed” gives you a hint that your phone is unable to access the email server using the POP3 server (incoming and outgoing) server settings you’ve entered.
Note: Pay attention to the username as you may need to enter your entire email address for the account you’re trying to set up. (For example: firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you are certain that you’ve entered the correct username and password (email settings) and everything is configured correctly, then you can try to access your email account using a computer. This will help you determine if an outage with your email provider’s servers is causing you this trouble or not. If you can access your email account via computer, then you can eliminate that as potential cause. The next thing you can try on is to verify if your phone is getting good signal strength, reboot your device to re-establish network connection and then retry to set up your email account. Also ensure Airplane mode is disabled.
Problem: “Hi. I’m wondering if you could help me out. I’m trying to connect to the Internet but I’m getting this error: “LTE: ESM -34 EMM- x data connection error.” And I can’t access the internet. Can you please tell me what this error means and how do I get rid of it?”
Answer: The error prompt you are seeing has something to do with the phone’s network settings. Kindly check your phone’s network mode settings and make sure you’ve got everything set correctly. You may try to change or toggle between other network modes available, to determine whether the problem is isolated to a certain network or not. Also ensure your APN settings are properly configured. If none of them is able to fix the error, then you may proceed with a network reset in order to update PRL and firmware (if available) on your phone.

Problem: “Why is my phone not connecting to mobile data network? I’ve been trying to get it work but have no luck. It works great on Wi-Fi though. Hope you can help me.”
Answer: If this is the first time it happens to your device, then my first suggestion is to contact your Internet service provider (ISP) and check for any possible network outages affecting mobile data services in your location. Also verify if mobile data is enabled on your phone settings and that your phone is connected to your carrier’s network. If the prior suggestions won’t work, try to perform a soft reset to reconnect your Galaxy S6 Edge+ to your carrier’s network. To perform a soft reset on this phone, press and hold the Volume Down and the Power keys until it turns off. After a few seconds, turn it back on.
