Among the most common connectivity issues Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (#Samsung #GalaxyS6EdgePlus) owners reported are no internet connection, slow browsing, connectivity gets disconnected randomly, device can’t connect to mobile data, and no connection even if mobile data is turned on.
There are several factors to consider when troubleshooting internet connectivity issues. The thing is, these problems aren’t always serious. In fact, 7 out of 10 cases can be fixed by simple troubleshooting. So, if you have a problem with the internet in your S6 Edge Plus, I suggest you take time to follow these simple troubleshooting steps:
Troubleshooting Tips for Internet Connection Issues
These tips are based on how technicians troubleshoot phones with similar issues. Most of the time, the procedure starts at the very simple step:
Tip 1: Reboot your phone – yes, rebooting is the very first step to take when you’re trying to fix your internet connection. It refreshes the memory of your phone, restart all services and refreshes the connection to the network. Never underestimate its power.
Tip 2: Reboot your router / modem (for Wi-Fi connection) – this is another way to refresh the network. Rebooting the network equipment often fixes network-related problems which may result to slow to no connectivity.
Tip 3: Verify APN settings (for mobile data connection) – the APN is a very important set of parameters set in your phone so it can connect to the network of your service provider and use data. For BYOD customers, you need to manually set it so call your provider and ask for the correct APN.
Tip 4: Enable Smart Network Switch – this is for people who connect to both WiFi and mobile data networks. This feature allows the phone to automatically connect to one network in the absence of the other or if it detects one network has a weak signal.
Tip 5: After a reset and the phone couldn’t connect via mobile data, always check the APN as it may have been deleted during the process. Creating a new one will fix the problem.
Tip 6: Call your provider in case your connection slows down at the end of the billing period as you may have already topped your data cap. All carriers have data cap as part of their “fair use” policy. When you reach the threshold, your connection will be throttled that’s why you’re experiencing slower connections. Your provider may be offering some packages so you can regain your connection speed.
I hope these tips can help you fix your internet connection issues. Continue reading below for the problems I cited in this article.

S6 Edge Plus apps don’t get notifications when on mobile data but work fine on WiFi
Problem: Hi. I have problem with my mobile once I open the mobile data, I cant get any notifications or any emails. And once I connected with the WiFi the mobile keep showing notifications from all of the apps. It’s really annoying now. I need to check my mobile every 2 minutes in case someone is texting me or calling me. Can you please guys help me with this problem to solve it ASAP. Thanks.
Troubleshooting: It may seem as simple as no connectivity issue, it’s actually a bit more complicated to troubleshoot a problem like this. Here are the things you need to do…
Step 1: Turn off WiFi and turn on mobile data only. Since we will be troubleshooting connectivity using mobile data, we don’t need interference from WiFi.
Step 2: Try browsing the web or download apps just to verify that you have an active internet connection. If you can neither browse the web nor download apps, the reason why you don’t get notifications when using mobile data is because you don’t have an active internet connection. To address this, make sure you have the correct APN settings in your phone and if you’re not sure about it, then call your service provider and ask for the correct one.
Step 3: If you get an active internet connection when WiFi is off, it means the device doesn’t automatically switch between networks. For this, enable Smart Network Switch:
Go to Settings.
Tap Smart network switch.
Tap On to enable it.
Step 4: Should you have an active internet connection while using mobile data but your apps failed to get notifications, it’s time you backed up all your data and perform the master reset.
Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
Step 5: If all else fails, contact your service provider as it may be a hardware problem.
S6 Edge+ gets authentication error from WiFi network after about two days of use
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. I am currently abroad and seem to be having trouble connecting to WiFi in the hotel. It was fine when I initially connected, but after a day it comes up with ‘authentication error’ whenever I try to connect. Are you able to help? Thanking you in advance. — Niresh
Answer: In your case, the only thing I can think of why authentication error occurs is that the hotel you’re staying at might be changing the password for their network every couple of days, which is, by the way, common to lodging houses that offer free Wi-Fi. This is one way to make sure only clients can use their network.
I think the best thing to do is contact the hotel management and ask for the new password or ask why you’re getting authentication error.
S6 Edge Plus has difficulty staying connected to 5Ghz network
Problem: I own an Asus RT-AC87R (802.11AC router) and I am trying to connect my phone to the 5Ghz Network. It will connect just long enough for me do a little diagnostic and then turn itself off again. I have turned off the Smart Network Switch, and used *#0011# to turn off WiFi Power Save. While in *#0011# I noticed it said that it my Network starts off as “.11AC” then slowly declines to “”.11A”” and my link speed drops from +260Mbps down to 6Mbps, and then it disconnects. It has connected and disconnected 6 times since I started typing this.
However, when I placed it on the 2.4GHz network, and it runs fine but slow. Everything that is connected to the 5GHz band runs fast and perfectly fine, including the last phone I had.
Answer: You’re not the only one having this problem. In fact, it’s not exclusive to S6 Edge Plus as other Android smartphone users also complained not having able to get stable connection with 5Ghz network. As of now, we really can’t provide you with clear explanation as to why this problem happens let alone a solution. But rest assured that we will dig into this problem and probably will contact you when we find something or solution. Thanks for contacting us.
Can’t setup email account transferred from iPhone to S6 Edge+
Problem: I am transferring two email accounts from my iPhone to the Edge Plus. One account was easily established on the new phone using the existing iPhone email account settings for that account.
The second account I am unable to establish the account. I am using the exact settings as on the iPhone but cannot establish this account on the Edge phone. Do you have any suggestions? Regards, Tom.
Answer: Hey Tom. Apparently, the settings don’t work with your new phone. I don’t know what kind of email you’re having problems with but if you’re trying to setup a corporate one, then I suggest you contact your company’s IT department and verify the settings with them.
If you’re using the free email services like Gmail, Yahoo mail, etc., then it would be better if you used their respective clients instead of using the stock email app.
S6 Edge Plus can initially stream video but buffers after 3 minutes prompting connection issue
Problem: Every time I try to go to watch a video it plays well but after 3 minutes it starts buffering and gives me a message saying to check my connection or that there is no connection.
Answer: If the phone says there’s no connection, then there’s probably no connection, otherwise, the streaming continues. I suggest you check the stability of the network you’re connecting to or call your provider if you’re using mobile data.
