S4 Does Not Turn On
Problem:today I turned my phone off while I was at work and 3 hours later I tried to turn it on and it wouldn’t. battery was around 80% when turned off. It wont charge by powerpoint or computer and wont let me reset it and when connected to the computer it doesn’t get read by the system to exchange files.
Solution: Here’s what you need to do first. Take out the phone battery then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This clears the phone circuit of any residual charge and also clears out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then try to turn on your phone.
If your phone still does not turn on then carefully inspect its charging port. What you should be looking for is any signs of dirt or lint. If you spot any then clean it using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. You should then use a different wall charger (with a different USB cord) in charging your phone. Let your phone charge for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.
If your phone still does not turn on then you should try using a new battery.
S4 Not Turning On
Problem:Haven’t used the phone in a while .. don’t know the exact details of previous apps that may have been installed … I know the battery is fine because it works on other s4s .. I can’t seem to even hard reset the phone at this point … it was working without a problem and then I removed the battery and left it in a drawer for a few weeks. Go to turn it on and nothing happens. Hard reset doesn’t work and I don’t know what to do
Solution: If your phone was working fine before you left in in the drawer for a few weeks then the first thing that needs to be checked is the battery. However, you mentioned that the battery works fine if used by another S4. What you should do now is to press and hold the power button of your phone for at least a minute while the battery isn’t inserted. This clears out any cached data in the RAM which may be corrupt and is causing the problem.Insert the battery then try to turn on your phone.
If your phone still does not turn on then try connecting it using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies. Once the phone is connected to the computer press on its power button and check if Kies can detect your phone.
If the problem still persists then you may want to try using another battery on your phone.
S4 Doesn’t Turn On
Problem:battery died overnight. I recharged it to 100% and tried to turn it on. It would not turn on. I also tried at 67% and it would not turn on. I noticed yesterday that it said it updated 31 things… not too sure what it updated as I did not take a good look. I took the battery out, discharged as per your instructions. Nothing. I just have a black screen. Previously I had a problem charging with the cable that came with it, so I switched to my old cable. It tells me that it is 100% charged. no idea what operating system is on it as I cannot turn it on. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Solution: Try taking out the battery of your phone then reinsert it. This is to make sure that your phone is powered off. Using a USB cord connect your phone to a computer running on Kies. Press the power button of your phone. Check Kies if it can detect your phone. If your phone can be detected yet you can’t see anything on the phone display then the problem may be with the display itself. I suggest you backup your phone data using Kies then bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.
If however your phone can’t be detected by Kies then try using a new battery on your phone. If the problem persists you should try to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery menu.
If the problem persists then this may already be hardware related in which case you would have to bring your phone to an authorized service center.
S4 Shuts Down And Won’t Turn On
Problem:Shut down for no reason and refused to start up again. Took out the battery and held the power button for a minute and put the battery back in, and all that happened was the logo came up and then it went black. The factory reset option or the safe mode option didn’t work for me. What can I do? Please help!!!
Solution: Try connecting your phone to its wall charger for at least 20 minutes then press on the power button to turn it on while still connected to the charger. If your phone does not turn on then try connecting it using a USB cord to a computer with Kies running. Press the power button and check if Kies can detect your phone.
If your phone still does not turn on then try using a new battery on it as the battery that you are using may already be faulty.
For all of the troubleshooting steps above make sure that the microSD card is removed.
If all else fails then you may want to consider reflashing your phone. You will need a copy of the stock firmware of your phone as well as a software called Odin installed in your computer. Instructions on how to flash your device can be found at several of the popular online Android forums.
S4 Does Not Charge Or Turn On
Problem:My 2-3 year old Samsung Galaxy S4 is not working. It was working fine this morning. I had plugged it into a portable battery charger and sometime while it was still plugged in it stopped charging. Now it won’t charge or turn on.
Solution: Try taking out the battery then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges your phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then turn on your phone. If your phone still does not turn on then try replacing the battery.
