Foursquare is slowly rolling out its new real-time recommendations feature to iPhone users, starting with “a small batch” to coincide with its updated, streamlined iOS app.
These notifications, which a limited number of Android users have had access to since August, proactively suggest places to visit and dishes to try – even if you don’t have the app open. Foursquare promises that the feature won’t drain your battery – at least not so it’s noticeable – and will be available to more iPhone users with each passing day.
Foursquare has also refined the design of its iOS app today, adding two new buttons called Nearby and Worldwide to the home screen. Both feeds shows the most recent check-ins from your friends, filtered by location, giving a quick snapshot of what everyone has been up to.
