Foxconn is making sure that customers will be able to pick up an iPhone 5S this Holiday season, as the company has ramped up production of the new iPhone model, according to the Wall Street Journal. Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai, has added workers to its production line and operating its Chinese factories for longer periods of time.
Due to the popularity if the iPhone 5s, Apple has been struggling to keep up with demand, shipping iPhone 5s orders about two to three weeks after purchase. The increased production allows Apple to ship all versions of the iPhone 5s in just three to five days after being ordered.
“We have been churning out about 500,000 iPhone 5Ss everyday, the highest daily output ever. For the iPhone 5C or the iPhone 5, we only have 500 workers per production line as the assembly procedure is less complicated,” – Unnamed Hon Hai Executive
Hon Hai has around 300,000 workers at its production site in Zhengzhou who are focused solely on iPhone 5s production, including the manufacture of metal casings and other key components. Production of the iPhone 5c has slowed due to a request from Apple, as the iPhone 5s is outselling the iPhone 5c at a rapid pace.
