This week on the Gadget Lab Podcast, the team takes a look at a service called Foldable.me, then chats about the heat non-issue with the new iPad.
To start the show, staff writer Roberto Baldwin and reviews editor Michael Calore bring out paper Mike Isaac, a Foldable.me version of the real thing. Foldable.me is a service that takes a picture of a person and turns it into an avatar-meets-origami paper version. It should cost $12, and they’ll ship it anywhere.
Next up, Robbie and Mike talk about “heat-gate” — Consumer Reports found that the new iPad could reach a temperature of 116 degrees Fahrenheit when you play a graphics-intense game like Infinity Blade II for 45 minutes. Robbie decided to test that out, and also tested heat levels of other notable tablets on the market using a digital laser thermometer. The verdict? There’s nothing to worry about, folks — but using a laser thermometer is pretty fun.
