Up for review today is the Opena (bottle opener) iPhone 4/4S case. The case is simple and somewhat novelty, it is a snap-on hard case for the iPhone 4/4S with a built-in slide-out bottle opener. The case, while we had a black model in for review, also comes in white. The Opena case retails for $39.99.

What can you really say here, the Opena case is an iPhone case and a bottle opener in one. And well, to be honest, this one was fun to review for a handful of probably obvious reasons.
That being said, the Opena case snaps onto your iPhone and then has a slide-out bottle opener on the backside. And we would be lying if we were to say that we thought of this as anything other than a tool for those who carry an iPhone and drink beer. Of course, on the flip side, the Opena is under-21 friendly as it can open a bottle of soda just as nicely.
Anyway, for me this one was fun — not only did I get to venture out of the house, but I got to drink beer and also come across like the cool guy at the party. Hey, I was the one who had the bottle opener. And you know what I mean as almost every party has the group that brings a non-twist off and forgets the opener. Well, in this case I was the one who came to the rescue.
On top of that, while I have seen the Opena case mentioned several times on the interwebs, apparently the group I was hanging out with had never heard or seen it. And nicely done for the folks behind the case, I had more than a few asking how much this sells for and where they could get one. Well, I also had a few looking to take mine. But on that note, I suppose having your bottle opener attached to your iPhone is a plus because you are less likely to loss your phone which means you will also not be losing your bottle opener.
The bottom line
With that all being said, the Opena case was certainly a novelty. Granted, it is not a case that I am going to keep on my iPhone 24/7, however it will remain close at hand for those times when I am going to be out and tossing back a few beers. In fact, the only drawback that I can mention, the Opena case feels a bit on the heavy side. Granted that is because you have a slightly large piece of metal running through, but still, it does add some weight to your phone. In the end, this would be cool for anyone with an iPhone that happens to be in need of a bottle opener. And on top of that, it would also serve as a rather nice gift for the person that seems to have everything.
