Samsung recently introduced successors to some of the members of the Galaxy A family, those include the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7, while they have yet to make official a new member called the Galaxy A9, which we’ve already seen in some Chinese press material. The original Galaxy A series included phones made with aluminum, but the new Galaxy A members feature a design inspired by the Galaxy S6 lineup, this time, based on glass on front and back and a metallic frame in between. Samsung didn’t mention pricing and availability details, but the Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016) (as the company is calling them) have been spotted on the Chinese version of the company’s site.
These phones will probably be available to purchase through that site, although most variants of the A5 currently redirect users to other retailers, while the white version is listed as “temporarily out of stock”. The gold variant of the A7 can be purchased on that site, and the other color options will link to other retailers. At the very least, the listing does provide some details on the local pricing for each handset, the Galaxy A5 is priced at 2,398 Yuan (around $371) and the Galaxy A7 retails at 2,699 Yuan (around $417). We also can see some of the apps that will come pre-loaded on these two phones and the Material Design-inspired iconography looks different than the squircle-shaped one that was introduced with the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5. These icons might be exclusive to Chinese handsets, though.
The Galaxy A7 and the Galaxy A5 feature similar specs, but the A7 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, while the one on the A5 is a 5.2-inch display with the same resolution. The Galaxy A7 includes 3 GB of RAM and the Galaxy A5 includes 2 GB of RAM. They both include an octa-core processor, 16 GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, there’s a 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel one on the front. The Galaxy A3 (2016), which is the smaller of the three, is nowhere to be found on the site, but a Dutch retailer suggests that it will be launched rather soon along with the Galaxy A5 in that region.
