The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and S4 may take 3D panoramas
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 may have some imaging tricks up its sleeve: 3D imaging and panoramic imaging. I'm not exactly sure what's implied by that last part, because the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3 are able to capture panoramas already.
These bits of news were discovered from a new Samsung patent, so it's not certain whether these features will really exist.
The 3D camera feature is an "application software for smart phones; application software for tablet computers; digital cameras; USB flash drives; mobile telephones; portable media players; portable computers; rechargeable batteries; smart phones; tablet computers; wireless headsets; lenses for cameras," the report said.
And as far as the panoramic imaging goes, it looks like Samsung may be taking steps to make them a bit cleaner:
On the other hand, the panoramic camera capability is "a panoramic imaging lens capable of suppressing stray rays causing flare or ghost phenomenon and improving image quality, and a panoramic imaging system using the panoramic imaging lens."
Cameras are a big selling point for smartphones, especially since we're now taking more photos and videos than ever, so I'm sure the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 will have incredible cameras. Rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy S4 camera will be packing a 13MP sensor, and if it retains the image quality that its predecessor had, it will be a killer camera.
We'll find out about the Galaxy S4 soon enough since the event in New York City is taking place March 14, which is just two days away at the time of this writing. We're expecting the S4 to have an incredibly powerful Exynos processor and tons of RAM, too. Be sure to follow our coverage here as we report live from Radio City Music Hall in NYC.
