Now that the Galaxy S5 is fairly readily available around the world, Samsung fans (and tech fans in general) have shifted their attention to Samsung’s next “next big thing,” the Galaxy Note 4. While rumours and leaks have been pretty scarce so far, they are starting to filter out onto the web and today we do have a story to pass your way.
Very reputable source, SamMobile, has received a tip regarding some of the new features that will be featured on the upcoming phablet. These features include ‘Swipe to launch Motion Launcher’, ‘Aqua Capture’, ‘Multi Network for Booster’, and ‘Smart Fingerprint.’ The “Swipe to launch Motion Launcher” is said to be something similar ‘Motion Launch’ which debuted on the HTC One M8. On the M8, this feature allows users to perform different gestures on a ‘off’ screen to unlock the phone, launch the camera, jump into BlinkFeed, etc. This was one of my favourite software features of the M8 so I’m glad to see Samsung is implementing something similar.
‘Aqua Capture,’ given the name, will likely give you the ability to capture photos underwater. The addition of this feature also confirms rumours that the Note 4 will get a water/dust proofing treatment. The ‘Multi Network for Booster’ is likely the same as the ‘Download Booster’ feature found on the S5. Hopefully the ability to utilize this feature will be a little more wide spread on the Note 4.
The last feature, ‘Smart Fingerprint,’ is said to add customizable actions to the fingerprint reader. To what degree users can customize the actions remains to be seen but one possible implementation I can imagine is that different fingerprints could launch into different applications. That’s just my own speculation but it seems like a viable possibility.
As always, take the story with a grain of salt as the story does fall in the rumour category until it’s officially confirmed. Nevertheless, all of these new features seem reasonable enough so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them on the Note 4.
