As we all know, the latest version of Android OS, 5.0, Lollipop, has been released by Google. However, a very small number of devices will be getting this OS update, and, it is very good news for Galaxy Note 4 – N910 owners that it will be released for their device in early phases of the releasing of this update.
A few months ago, Samsung had announced that the Lollipop updates for this device will be rolled-out in early 2015. But, it got delayed due to a code for Gear VR Accessory, which is now solved. So, now you may have a question that when will Samsung release the latest Lollipop updates for your Galaxy Note 4 – N910.
The Android 5.0.1 updates have started rolling out on Exynos-Based Note 4 devices, through OTA (Over-The-Air) updates by Samsung, in some regions, while the release of Lollipop updates on Snapdragon-Based Note 4 devices is still unknown.
The release dates of the Lollipop updates are not specific, and vary from region to region. As soon as your device receives the OTA updates, they will appear in your on-screen notifications on your device.
Another way to check for updates is to check manually. For doing this, Go to Settings, About Phone, Software Updates, and then select Check for Updates. However, you can still install unofficial Android Lollipop updates by rooting your device, which are available on the internet.
Though the release of Lollipop updates on Note 4 devices is very limited, and these updates are available only in some specific regions around the world. Recently, it was reported that latest Android Lollipop updates have started rolling out on some Note 4 – N910 units in Poland, and South Korea, through SK Telecom Carrier, while, other carriers are also expected to roll out these updates very soon.
These updates are being rolled-out in phases. This means that not everyone will be receiving the updates at the same time. The update is about 750MB in size. The material design still has a large TouchWiz influence, improved battery life, and improved performance.
This Lollipop update release in Poland, and South Korea, is actually a beta phase of Samsung’s Lollipop roll-outs, and once the company makes sure that the updates are safe and bug-free, these updates will be pushed very fast, worldwide.
The release of the new Official Lollipop updates is also confirmed in France, by a French Carrier, SFR. The carrier has confirmed that Android Lollipop Updates will be released for Samsung Galaxy S5, as well as, Note 4 – N910, in late February.
However, they did not provide any specific dates about the release of Android Lollipop, but, they have confirmed that the updates will be rolled-out through OTA Updates, or Samsung KIES software, within this month. This means that Lollipop updates for Note 4 will be released in the next few days in France.
These updates are also expected to be released in Canada in a very near future. A Canadian carrier, Rogers, has confirmed that the Android Lollipop updates for Note 4 – N910 will be released very soon. So, it is safe to expect that updates will actually be rolled out very soon in Canada.
In United States, Only Galaxy S5 Lollipop Update is available for now. However, it is evident from T-Mobile’s Android Update Development Page that the Lollipop update for Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4 – N910 are going to be released soon. So, it is safe to expect that these updates will be released in March.
So, The Lollipop updates for Galaxy Note 4 – N910, are only available in Poland, South Korea, and some of its surrounding countries for now, and will be released in France, Canada, and United States in a near future, when Samsung determines that the updates are fully functional and absolutely bug-free.
However, there is no information about when these updates will be released in other countries. And by considering the rate at which Samsung will be releasing the updates, these updates will be completed Worldwide in third quarter of 2015, hopefully. So, if you are a Note 4 – N910 owner from any other region around the world except Poland, and South Korea, you will have to wait for at least a month to taste the Lollipop updates on your device.
